Porcelain Gzhel figurine
The figurine is inspired by Russian fairy tale Emelya and the Pike. The title character is a simple man who catches a pike and lets it out. In return Emelya receives a gift. He no longer has to work hard because at his wish the buckets go home themselves, the sleighs go without horses, and the ax cuts wood without his participation.
The figurine is 8.5 cm high, was created in the 1980s in the well-known Gzhel ceramics production center situated near Moscow. The figurine was intended for export. At the bottom is the information "Handpainted in USSR".
