Karas is a character from the first Ukrainian opera "A Zaporozhets (Cossack) beyond the Danube". It was composed by Semen Hulak-Artemovsky (1813–1873). Ivan Karas is a Zaporozhian Cossack 45 - 50 years old. His wife is 35 years old Odarka. The Kiev Experimental Art Ceramics Factory produced also Odarka figurine.
