Soviet Lomonosov lion cub porcelain figurine

Soviet Lomonosov lion cub porcelain figurine

The lion has been hand painted by Lomonosov artists sometime between 1960 and 1979.

Author of this figurine is B.J. Vorobyov. Boris started working for Lomonosov factory in 1936. He was an animalist artist and that's why he had to argue with advocates of socialist realism. In 1950s he was declared a master of art and started to take part in many Soviet and foreign exhibitions. Widely known are also his porcelain figurines ilustrating theatrical productions of Gogol's pieces. He stopped working for LFZ in 1972 but some of his figurines are still in production.

The lion cub figurine has a blue Lomonosov mark on the bottom. It is 11 cm high.
