Heinrich Baensch porcelain manufactory was established in Lettin in 1858. This central German porcelain factory swiftly secured sales markets at home and abroad.

After hard time during the Great Depression and the WWII (the factory went twice into bankruptcy), in 1946 production was resumed. The factory was gradually nationalized and since
1953 produced as VEB Porzellanwerk. From the 1960s there was a close cooperation with the art college Kunsthochschule Burg Giebichenstein.

In 1990 after privatization production was definitevely stopped.
