Johann Seltmann and his younger brother Christian Wilhelm Seltmann established in 1901. A manufactory was located in the German city of Vohenstrauß. Brothers parted ways in 1909. Christian started his own factory in the city of Weiden.
Johann constantly developed his factory in Vohenstrauß. It employed 500 workers already in 1914.
Johann Seltmann died in 1921. Management of te company was passed to his sons - Robert and Christian. After the WWII the factory was closed for some time because of critical damages to factory buildings.
The Vohenstrauß business was gradually rebuild and modernized in next years. Robert Seltmann died in 1956.
In 1970s the company struggled to survive on more and more competitive market. In 1975 Porzellanfabrik Johann Seltmann G.m.b.H. became a limited company. In 1993 Johann Seltmann G.m.b.H. merged with Schirnding A.G. and J. Kronester G.m.b.H. forming SKV-Porzellan-Union G.m.b.H. In 1995 the new entity decided to close the Vohenstrauß business.
