The manufacture Ceramique D'Art was established ca. in 1867 by Felix Optat Milet. His father and brother worked for the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres. Felix began to learn about porcelain production in the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres in 1855 and a some years later he became a modeller for the factory.
In 1879 Felix Optat Milet left the national manufacture and focused on developing his own business. He won a gold medal at the 1889 World Fair in Paris. His son Paul Milet gained ceramicist experience working with father. He gradually took over management of the manufacture. Paul won a gold medal at the 1900 World Fair in Paris.
Paul's son, Henri Milet, also worked for the family factory in Sèvres. He took over the running of the factory in 1931 and managed it till 1971.
